Japan: Earth’s Enchanted Islands – The Southwest Island’s Episode
Mini landmark series – BBC Two – 3 x 60
This three part series for 2015, looks at the wildlife and cultural stories of Japan. I worked across two shoots lasting seven weeks in various locations.
I shot a bluechip sequence of sea snakes coming onto dry land to drink fresh water and a time lapse sequence of the oldest trees in the world. I also assisted for a sequence filmed on the island of Kudaka, where I worked with producer David Marks and cameraman Robin Cox to film the spiritual elders catching sea snakes with there bare hands! As well as, filming the ‘making of’ for the first episode of the series and assisting on a shoot filming a species of Wild Boar.
During these shoots we worked together with the Co-funders NHK.
